kerana nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga

Read an interesting entry just now. Please read it here.

Yes, as my title shouts, the minor policeman people really gave bad impression to the society. I’m speaking on the behalf of my former police officer dad who served PDRM for over 34 years. I know my dad didn’t count in the hot topic because he was in the firearm department, he worked IN the office and has nothing to do with encountering civilian.

Notice the words policeman and police officer. Policeman = anggota polis. Police officer = pegawai polis. The latter stood in higher level while the other is in the lower. People out there who has relatives working as policeman, don’t feel offended. Please read on..

I’m focusing to the lower levels or to be exact, those who involved in patrolling with the brand new PDRM waja’s. Traffic division is it? Yeah, they really got a nice car for patrolling. But what was not nice is their attitude towards the civilian like what happened in the above link.

Going back and forth using the MRR2, i’ll never fail to see the white waja stopping cars, lorries and motorcycles. I’m happy if they are doing their job in charging the illegal lorry drivers and other law offenders. But they really do have to respect us the civilian when asking about details and try not to force us in admitting things that we really don’t know/do like we are somekind of wanted criminal.

I remembered watching a scene on the tv where the policeman (US maybe), trying to stop a car. They would say “I’m sorry ma’am, I need you to step out of the car”. Policeman in M’sia ought to do the same. Maybe some did, maybe some didn’t. Use Puan, Cik, Encik or Tuan when speaking with people instead of kamu/awak.

The worst is, when they try hinting for duit kopi. People, never get involve in this kinda thing. If you had somewhat understand that they’re asking for it, just pretend like you didn’t catch his meaning. Try to remember his policeman id and name. They wear this silver tag engraving their id and they also wear a nametag. This might help you if you were being blackmailed or bullied.

If you were accused of an offense, ask what is it about and when you had agreed, just ask for the ticket. Don’t start begging and start showing off your wallet to settle it there. You can still go and plead on reducing the amount at the HQ’s but you certainly can’t get out if you had done an offense. Offense is still an offense. You still gotta pay.

Policemen out there who has been doing this illegal act, please stop and try to preserve PDRM’s dignity and integrity. I remembered that when people ask for my dad’s job and i answered, their face somewhat smirked afterwards. See, that’s the mentality of typical Malaysian..Kerana nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga..
